My Paper Pumpkin February 2015

Yesterday we had a snow day, so I was off work all day.  For once I actually worked in my craft room all day, and I don't mean cleaning, I mean playing.  I did the mixed media piece I posted yesterday and I also did my February Paper Pumpkin from Stampin' Up! along with my Monday sketch sample which you will see on Monday.  What a wonderful day I had.  Now today is back to work, but I thought I would share with you the February Paper Pumpkin.

How great is that?  It is an accordion card.  You received 8 of the card stock, scored and ready to stamp, along with the stamps and the letters for THANKS, and 8 boxes for the cards and the twine to tie the boxes.

Here is the first part of the card.

And some other photos just to show.

So can you tell I had plenty of fun yesterday.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day.

{Glory Art} Scripture Challenge #4 - Wisdom

I hope you all are enjoying this Glory Art Scripture Challenge as much as I am.  I just want to follow what God wants for me.  And, I desire the wisdom and understanding of God.

There were so many scriptures with Wisdom and Understanding that it was hard to choose which scripture to use.  I only put one on my mixed media canvas, but one that stood out to me was James 1:5, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."  I always think of Solomon here who when the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Ask what I shall give you."  And Solomon asked for Wisdom.  Of all the things he could have asked for, He asked for Wisdom.  (Read about this in 1 Kings 3.)  God was pleased by this request and he granted Wisdom to Solomon.  Because Solomon asked for wisdom, no other king compared to him.

The verse I chose for my Canvas is Proverbs 3:13-14, "Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold."  People are all out for profit (silver and gold), whatever makes them rich is what they seek.  But this verse lets us know that Wisdom is more profitable than riches.  It leads us to understanding of God's Word and gives us richly all we need, which is God.  And as I grow more and more in the Word of God I understand more and more what it means to be rich.

As Patter said, we gain wisdom through God's word, the prompting of the Holy Spirit and even other Christians.  I am so thankful that God gives us the ability to hear from him through his word, and through others.  We just have to keep our minds on Him and our ears open to hear.

So here is my Mixed Media Canvas!

I used some bright colors, but do love the outcome.  The bird in the tree is from a stamp set call "Backyard Basics" from Stampin Up.  I stamped it on tissue paper, colored it and then using modge podge placed it where I wanted it on the tree.  As you can see the tree is freehand done by using Faber-Castell oil pastels.  For the white leaves, I used a stencil and gesso.  Most of the rest was done with acrylic paint.  Here is a close-up of the bird.

 And more close-ups.

Hope you have enjoyed my creation today and please don't forget to stop by and check out Patter's post.  I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

I am also adding this to the Word Art Wednesday Challenge.

Sketch 355- Monday Lunchtime Sketch

What a wonderful sketch Mary Jo has for us today and it also gave me a chance to try out one of my new stamp sets, which I am going to love, called Butterfly Basics.  I actually used a little of my mixed media experience with this card and I do love it.  So here is the sketch.  Isn't it just wonderful.
And here is my sample using the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set.

And the inside using the same set.

Sketch 354- Monday Lunchtime Sketch

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to this weeks Monday Lunchtime Sketch.  The sketch this week was just perfect for a birthday card I needed to make for my Grandson who will be turning 2 this month.  He is such a blessing and for some reason this stamp set called Big News from Stampin' Up! was just the set for him.  I had planned on using another set, and I did use it for the inside.  So it all worked out as planned.  So here is the sketch for this week.  Great isn't it?

And, here is my sample for you!

And here is the inside of my card where I used Hooray It's Your Day!

I love stamping on designer paper and this is just perfect for stamping on.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the rest of the design team samples.  I know you will love them.  And please play along with us this week.  We would love to have you!

{Glory Art} Scripture Challenge #3 - TRUTH

Happy Valentines Day!  I hope all of you are showing love today.  I know I love all of my blogging friends and am so thankful when you stop by and see me.  I am trying harder to get by to see all my friends out there in blog land, but I will say with a full time job and other things going on in my life, it is hard sometimes.

Today, I have finished my 3rd challenge for this years Glory Art Challenge and I must say I am loving this mixed media.  Now as I have said before, I don't know if each one of my challenges will be mixed media, but I can say if time permits I plan on doing them.  My daughter asked me this morning what I was going to do with them all and I didn't even have to think.  I will be putting them in the room that I have for my grandchildren.  I must repaint it first as I would like it to be a pale yellow which fits both boy and girl.  But I am praying that as they walk into the room, they will fill the presence of an almighty God!

The 3rd challenge was all about truth.  What does truth mean to you?  "What is truth?" is a very simple question.  Of course, answering it isn't so simple.  We can offer definitions like "Truth is that which conforms to reality, fact, or actuality."  But how many people actually believe that?

For the Christian, the ultimate expression of truth is found in the Bible, in Jesus who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life..." (John 14:6).  It goes on to say "no one comes to the Father except through me."  Do you believe that?  As Christians we should believe the Word of God and by believing it as truth, then we know the only way to the Father is through Jesus.  He is the Truth!

John F MacArthur said this, "Here’s a simple definition drawn from what the Bible teaches: Truth is that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God. Even more to the point: Truth is the self-expression of God. That is the biblical meaning of truth."

So if we are to reflect God in our lives, we have to show truth daily and to do that, we need all of Jesus we can get.  And, I for one want all I can get.

My verse for my mixed media today is, Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Psalm 25:5

I love butterflies, so today I wanted to add those butterflies to my canvas and that is what I did. I followed a wonderful video for mixed media by Susanne Rose which is wonderful.  I did not realize I did not have another 8X10 canvas so today I used what I had in the house which was a 14X11.  I hope you like it and are blessed by what God has given me today.

Here are some close ups for you to see.

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to check out Patter's wonderful post about truth.  And I just realized that I used the same verse as Patter when I went over to get her link.  That is OK if that has what God gave us both.  I am sure you will enjoy her post.  It is wonderful as always.

Sketch 353- Monday Lunchtime Sketch

Time is passing so fast and I cannot believe it is already time for our Monday Lunchtime Sketch.  Can you?

Today Mary Jo went a little out of my comfort zone, but we need that at times to help us put our thinking caps on and that is exactly what I did.  I wanted to use my new stamps and dies so I really had to think to get it all to work with this sketch, and I am so glad that I stayed with the original thought.  Here is Mary Jo's sketch this week.
And now here is my version of how this sketch is done using the new SU Butterfly Thinlits Die and The Butterfly Basics stamp set.

This past week we had stamp class and we used the butterfly thinlits with wax paper and then used the wax paper over the butterfly.  So I thought I would do the same with this and I do love the look of it.  Here is a side view of the butterfly and the inside of the card taken at the same time.  I did not realize I had done this until I was looking at the shots.  I liked the fact you could see the wax paper along with the butterflies so I decided to use it.

Now don't forget to stop by and check out the rest of our design team samples.  They really are wonderful this week.

Sketch 352- Monday Lunchtime Sketch

It is time again for our Monday Lunchtime sketch.  I really look forward to doing these sketches and am so glad that Mary Jo has faith in me to be on her design team.  And, it keeps me stamping which is what I need right now.  Anyway, on to this weeks sketch.  Don't you just love it.  I know I do and when I found out yesterday that my daughter's friend had her little baby girl, I knew I was going to use this sketch as my inspiration and I also knew exactly what stamp sets I was going to use.  So now here is my sample for this week's sketch.

I just love this stamp set called Baby We've Grown and it was the first stamp set I thought of when I saw the sketch.  And, then I thought about the inside and this new set I have from Stampin' Up! called Big News was perfect for the inside.

And yes, I had to give you a side view.  I love this card even though it is a little off center.  Hopefully the new mom and dad want see that part of it.

Now I can tell you the design team have outdone themselves this week with this sketch, so please go by and check out their samples and by all means please join us this week for our sketch.

Hope your week is filled with joy and many blessings!
