Happy Father's Day

On stampin' connection, a site for stamping up demonstrators, the featured stamper for this week was Wendy Jansen.  As soon as I saw the card I chose to case, I knew it was the one.  I actually changed up the colors a bit and used a retired stamp called For Father.  Anyway, even though I stamped the Happy Father's Day sentiment a little crooked, I love the out come.  My dad was a contractor before he retired and this stamp set just seemed to scream for me when I saw this card.  He now has alzhiemers and usually don't even remember me when I go visit, but I hope this may bring back some recognition of who he was.  Regardless of what this disease has done to him, he still loves the Lord and enjoys us reading the Bible to him when we visit.  There are some things even an illness can't take away, Praise God!  Thanks for stopping by!

Mr & Mrs/Presto Patterns/Two-Step Bird Punch

Here is some more of the Presto Patterns DSP again that is in the summer mini catalog.  I am loving it.  This was inspired by the color and sketch challenge on stampin' connection.  The color challenge was to use black and white and some other color.  My other color was the bermuda bay.  I actually sponged the DSP with basic black and then went back over with the bermuda bay ink.  Then wiped off with a paper towel and it helped bring out the glossy design of the paper.  It is almost invisible until you add some type of color to it.  I also used the perfect polka dots embossing folder on the bermuda bay to give more dimension.  The stamp set is the tiny tags that was in the last mini catalog, but will be in the new catalog coming up from what I have been told.  How great is that?  And, yet again, I had to bring out my wonderful two-step bird punch.  It is the greatest and you can do so much with it.  Once I had put everything together, Ribbon and all, I then spritzed it with the vanilla smooch spritz which is in the summer catalog.  You can see some of the shimmer here, but not as shimmery as when you are looking at it in real life.  Thanks so much for looking and please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Hello/Presto Patterns

I just had to try this new presto paper and also the sketch from Christian Paper Crafts.  It was just too cute not to use.  Anyway, the presto paper is fabulous.  It is in the new summer mini and the emobossing on it resist color which means when you add color, it just makes the design pop right out.  So what I did was use a sponge and classic ink in old olive, rich razzleberry and orchid opulence.  After I finished getting the colors blended and the effect I wanted, I then put the card together and made the flowers using rich razzleberry, orchid opulence, and whisper white cardstock which is stressed and seperated into two pieces from one circle.  The punches I used were 1-1/4" and 1" for the flowers on this card because I wanted them smaller.  There are a lot of tutorials out there for the flowers and here is one that might help you see what I am talking about.  I actually used 6 total pieces after they had been seperated for each flower.  Try them they are so easy.  Once I completed the flowers, I then adhered with a pop dot.  Then using the extra large bird punch I punched 4 of the wings in old olive for leaves, punched 5 of the vines in old live, punched one bird in orchid opulence and a wing in the rich razzleberry and placed them on the card. My final touch to the card was using the vanilla smooch sprtiz which I sprayed over the entire card and is also in the summer mini.  Boy does it make your card sparkle.  Beautiful!  Very easy and simple.  Hope you could understand what I did and if you haven't purchased the presto patterns paper, you should.  It is wonderful.  Thanks for looking.

Motorcycle Card

It took me a little while to decide what stamp set to use when I first saw this sketch on Stamping 411, but when I decided to turn it to landscape, I knew exactly what I was going to use.  I love this motorcycle stamp.  It is great for a man's card or a ladies' card, but I need more men's cards.  With this card, I  started out with Kraft card stock and then took a piece of Brocade Blue and used the square lattice embossing folder on it.  I then cut a piece of Brilliant Blue, another piece of kraft.  Well you kind of get the picture.  I also ran the piece of brilliant blue through with the square lattice embossing folder.  I then attached the brads, stamped the motorcycle in Not Quite Navy and the Happy Father's Day.  I sponged around all the kraft peices with the not quite navy, adhered everything together and then spritzed it with the silver foil smooch spray.  You don't have to spray very much, but it really adds a bit of sparkle to the whole card.  The stamp sets used were the single Motorcycle and Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Thanks for looking and please leave a comment on what you think!

Blessings, Jonia

Summertime Splendor/ Scripture Challenge Word #10

Can you tell I am enjoying this new MDS paper called Summertime Splendor?  I thought it was great for the Scripture Challenge, because it adds so much beauty to the page.

Scripture Challenge Word # 10 was EXAMPLE.  Patter really had a great message on the word example and as I read hers, I thought what kind of example am I to my fellow Christians and am I an example in this world.  That is why I chose the two verses above for this page is because I do want to be an example.  I want people to know that I am a child of the King.  But to be that example means that I need to read God's Word and then let that word shine through me.  I need to be in prayer, allowing God to minister through me.  So "in everything set them an example by doing what is good.  In your (my) teaching show integrity."  I love God's Word and I love to look up verses.  I think that is why I love doing these scripture challenges.  It keeps me hungry for what I know that God wants to tell me through His Word!  Thanks for looking!

Summertime Splendor/MDS/Thinking of You

I am loving this new Summertime Splendor on My Digital Studio.  Today, I just added this to a whisper white piece of cardstock and printed it off to make this card.  I then added the other cardstocks, spritzed it with the vanilla smooch spray which is in the summer mini, and then stamped it with stamp set Thankful Thinking.  How great is that.  So easy and very sparkly and beautiful.  The cardstocks I used are Brocade blue, Green Galore (both retiring), and melon mambo.  I also added a little of the brocade blue ink to the side of the white with a sponge to give it a little more blue.  It actually prints out with the look of sponging on it.

This card was actually inspired by our Featured stamper challenge at stampin' connection and the featured stamper was Barb Mulikin.

MDS Paper/Summer Time Splender DSP

I am so excited about this card.  It took only about 5 minutes once I got the 8-1/2" X 11" page set up in the My Digital Studio.  This is the new paper download that just came out called Summer Splender and it is beautiful.  This is only the first card of many that I plan on making.  This card is actually for the Christian Paper Crafts Thursday Bible Verse challenge and when I saw the challenge earlier, I knew I was going to use My digital studio to make this card.  Below I am showing what I printed off from MDS and then cut and added the background paper to match.  The paper I used here is Rose Red and brilliant blue card stock.  I printed the Summer Time Splender on Whisper White.  That is all you need and the verse I printed on the MDS page prior to printing by using the text option.  EASY!!!!  Gretchen Barron also has posted some cards on her website using the same method.  Her cards are beautiful.  Thanks for looking and don't forget to see the paper page below I created using MDS (My Digital Studio).

Pedaling Past/Enjoy the Journey Graduation

Graduation cards!  I use to have so many problems trying to make a graduation card and now it just seems to be so easy.  It started with a sketch that I got from Christian Paper Crafts Sketch Tuesday and actually was not intended to be a graduation card, but once I finished it I knew it would make a great graduation card.  I used the new stamp set called "Pedaling Past" which is in the new summer mini.  And then I used the Star # 2 original die for the stars.  I was using paper that will be retiring, Ruby Red and barely bannana, which is one of the schools colors. Then I needed something else and that is when the stars came up and all of a sudden it became a graduation card.  And, even the phrase that comes with "Pedaling Past" works great for a graduation card.  Thanks for looking and please let me know your thoughts on this card!

Friendship

I just love making these flowers and I also love this stamp set which is one of the hostess sets from the catalog.  I got my inspiration for this card from Christian Paper Craft Saturday Case Artist Challenge.  Of course I used the wonderful DSP called Tea Party which will probably be retiring in June along with the Almost Amethyst card stock.  So if you are interested, please let me know.  The center was done by using the top note die and then turning it and running it through the big shot again.  It actually gives you a totally different look.  How great is that?  Two die cuts in one.  It is always good to be able to use one item and get two looks.  Hope you like and thanks for looking.

Graduation Punched Owl!

This was so easy and so much fun to do!  I just love doing the punch art and this was no exception.  I tried to use colors that would be closest to the school colors, so that was probably the hardes part of the whole card.  To make the owl, you use the following punches:
Head: Round Tab Punch
Body: 1-3/4" round punch
Wings: 1-3/8" round punch and then use the round scallop punch and punch each side of the circle put half way in.  Hard to explain, but you actually keep the outside round as you see above.
Feet: round scallop punch and cut out on the 3rd scallop.
Eyes:  3/4", 1/2", 1/4" round punches
For the hat, which was the hardest part for me, I just cut a 1" square, punched a 1-3/4" round circle and squared it on the sides.
I have seen a lot of these owls out there and all made a little different.  Just experiment, you may find something you like better than what I used.

Hope you can understand what I mean, but maybe seeing the owl and then using what I have given you above, you will be able to put the owl together.

For the background embossing, I used the new embossing folder called square lattice in the summer mini.  I really do like this new embossing folder, but then again, I like them all.

Stamp set used is Teeny Tiny Wishes, cardstock is almost amethyst and crushed curry.

Get Well Wishes/A little bit of Magic

Today was our bi-monthly stamp camp and this is the first card that I made using the stamping 411 sketch.  This was the first time doing the border with the crimper and I thought for the first try I actually did pretty good.  It is really a lot easier than it looks.  I took a piece of Lovely lilac about a inch width by 12" long.  Using the pinking hearts border punch I punched one edge of the 1" strip.  Then I ran it through the crimper.  I then turned the oval over and along the edge of the oval I applied adhesive.  I then started going around the edge of the oval with the Lovely lilace strip and pleated when necessary to make the curves.  That is it.  So easy.  I know there are some tutorials out there, but I could not find them today, so I just made do.  The stamp set is called "A little bit of Magic", and the cardstock colors are: Lovely lilac, Pale Plum, Lavender Lace, Whisper White, and certainly celery. Ribbon is 1/4" grosgrain certainly clelery.  Used markers for the coloring.

Thanks for looking!

Congratulations

I am so happy with the way this card turned out.  Over at Christian Paper Crafts they have a Case Artist Saturday and this card is cased from Rose Miller's gallery at CPC.  I actually used some more of the paper that will be retiring and as you have seen in my previous post, a lot of my work right now is using up the paper I will not be able to use after June.  The corner on the card was actually made from the pinking hearts corner punch and was the piece that was punched out.  I liked it and decided to use.  Just another way to use the pinking hearts corner punch.  Find all kinds of ideas when you are playing around with punches.  The flower was made with the 1-3/8", 1-1/4", and the 1" circle punches.  I then did the faux suede on them, so I actually got two pieces out of one circle.  Of course the leaves came from the extra large two step bird punch.  I use that punch all the time and love it.  I almost put the bird on the card, but decided not to.  The cardstock is cameo coral and the DSP is from the Razzleberry Lemonade Pack of paper.  Ribbon is the 5/8" crushed curry polka dot.  Stamp set was Well Scripted.  Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think by leaving a comment.  God bless!!

Stamping 411 challenge

What a great and easy card to do!  The sketch is this weeks Stamping 411 sketch.  And, it was perfect for designer paper.  So all the stampin I did was the Thinking of you which is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set from Stampin' Up!  The DSP is also from Stampin' Up! and is called Tea Party.  Sometimes the most elegant cards are the ones that go together quick and easy.  Thanks for looking!

Sweet Scoops!

I am having fun with this stamp set.  My next project with it will be to do a scrapbook page.  I know it will make a wonderful summer page.  Anyway this was for a few challenges that were offered on stampin' connection.  The card was cased from a fellow stampin' up demonstrator Debbie Cipolla.  I more or less used her card as a sketch because it is totally different.  Items used are Stampin' Up!  Thanks for looking!

MDS (My Digital Studio)

I have recently purchased the My Digital Studio (MDS) from Stampin' Up!  I have actually put together a few more pages than this, but I thought I would share this one with you of my little Roscoe.  He is such a spoiled little thing.  But this was so easy to put together and only took just a matter of minutes.  How great is that?  I was so happy with the outcome and just how easy it was to use.  I will share a lot more with you later I am sure.  It is also the first page that I have done of Roscoe all by himself!  Thanks for looking.

Punch Art Owl Graduation

I fell in love with this graduation punched Owl.  I did the hat and the card base in the colors of the school of a graduate I will be giving this to.  I actaully cased this from someone, but for some reason I could not remember who.  I went and looked a couple of places and never found the actual card I printed off.  While looking I saw quite a few owls out there made fairly close to this one, but this one I actually cased the card I printed off.  I was not sure of the punches used, so I kept using punches until I found the correct one to make it look close.

I used the round tab punch for the face, the 1-3/4" round for the body and the scallop round for the wings and then punched again by using the 1-1/4 round punch to round it out.  The eyes are the 5/8" and the 1/2" and then the 1/4".  The feet are the scallop cut at the 3 scallop level.  If at all possible, I will try to punch everything out and show exactly what I used.

Paper used is the brilliant  blue, retired DSP in saffron yellow.  Thanks for looking!

Motorcycle/Birthday/faux suede technique

How manly is this card and so cute!  I actually got the Motorcycle, which is new in the summer mini, because my Son-in-law, my daughter (not my oldest daughter who is married to the son-in-law), and her boyfriend love to ride motorcycles.  My son-in-law actually will purchase a motorcycle and re-build it and then sell it.  Talent!!!  Anyway they were the inspiration in getting this stamp.  I thought it would make a great Father's Day Card or a Birthday card.  And, after this one, I am certain it will.  By the way, the sketch for this card came from the stamping 411 sketch challenge this week.  I love thier sketches.

Also in doing this challenge, does the black look like suede?  I actually did the faux suede technique and loved the look of it on this card.  At the end of this post I am going to put a close up so you can see the look of the suede better.  To get the suede look, you will need to take a piece of card stock, in my case the basic black.  You will then need to break down the fibers in the cardstock.  You can do this by rubbing the cardstock on the edge of a table or by using a bone folder. I also turn it quite a few times while rubbing on the edge of the table and on both sides.  It helps to break down the fibers better.  If you check out this link, you will see what I am talking about as far as the bone folder.  But with the piece I used which is bigger, I did rub on the edge of the table first and then I used the bone folder to reinforce as I was seperating the paper.  Once you do break down the fibers in the cardstock is very easy to seperate the cardstock.

Hope you can see the suede look in this close up picture.  It is really neat.  One day, I will do my own tutorial.

Recipe for the card:

Stamp sets:  Motorcycle, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock: Basic Grey, Brushed Silver (what I stamped the motorcycle and the happy birthday on), Ruby Red, Basic Black
Basic Black classic ink
Red hemp twine, silver stretch ribbon
