Father's Day Card

OK, I was waiting on the perfect sketch so I could use this stamp set for a father's day card and finally I saw this weeks sketch at Stampin Queen's Sketch Challenge and knew it was the one I had been waiting on.  This reminds me so much of my dad when I was growing up as a child.  He was always packing up that old truck with vegetable and fruits and taking around to all the older shut ins.  It was mostly vegetable though as I remember those long rows of beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, you name it he planted it and not only for us but for the whole community.  Now I cherish those days, but back then I would think, "why do we have to supply the whole community with a garden?  Can't someone else besides us do that?"  If you have ever picked beans on a scorching summer day you know what I mean.  But now I look back on that time and remember just how giving my dad really was and he taught us how to be giving also.  Thanks DAD for teaching us godly ways and how to be a servant.

Here is a side view!

As you can see I have not finished the inside of this card, as I am waiting for my computer to be fixed so I can do a bible verse with my digital studio.  Hope it is done before father's day.

A close up of the coloring using the ink and a blender pen!

And I popped it up to give some dimension as you can see below.

SULateNightStampers Challenge/LOVE

Good Tuesday Morning all!  Hope you had a fabulous weekend.  I am back to work today, but did love my 3 day weekend.  Just a great time with family!

Now I did finally have time to get this card done yesterday morning and it was a lot of fun.  As you can see, I used an embossing folder for the focal point and also used my brayer which I don't use often.  And one more quick point to notice, I used two of the new incolors that will be available June 1st (midnight muse & primrose petals.  Are they not the best.  Now to the sketch that actually inspired this card!  Yes, it was this weeks Stamping 411 Sketch and then of course I joined it with this weeks SULateNightStampers Challenge which was to make a wedding, anniversary, any project showing LOVE!  So of course I had to use my teeny tiny wishes stamp set to turn this into a wedding card.

Here is a side view!

And a close up of the top embossing folder show how I covered it with very vanilla ink!

And yes, I did do the inside and used one of our retiring hostess stamps.

A Cup of Tea

Well good morning and Happy Memorial day to everyone!  I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have served our country and one of those is my wonderful husband, Russ.  He was part of Dessert Storm and was proud to go and serve.  The second is my son-in-law who just returned from Afghanistan 5 weeks ago.  Thanks Scott for your service.  And to all the families who have lost love ones, I thank you for your sacrifice.  So I am sending to all of you "a cup of thanks."

I also would like to wish my daughter and her husband a happy one year anniversary today.  Even though they spent 7 months apart their 1st year, they are together and very happy.  May God continue to bless your marriage.

Now on to this card that I made on Friday evening, but am just now getting the time to post.  As soon as I saw the sketch over at Sketch Frenzy Friday I knew I would be using this stamp set and cutting out the big cup of tea.  Did not really think about posting it on Memorial day for a thanks to our veterans, but it worked out and now I am glad it did.

Here is a side view of this card!

On Eagles Wings

I have wanted to use this stamp set for a while also and had not seen the correct sketch or could find what I wanted to use it for.  Well this week the challenge over on Our Daily Bread Design blog was a sketch and that sketch inspired this card.  There are times you just fall in love with a card and this was one of those times.  You can find the sketch challenge here.

To make this card, I actually used Christmas Paper called, frostwood lodge.  But it is also a paper that can be used anytime I think, so I just saw this and used.  Here is a side view of the card!

Again, I used some of the designer paper on the inside to keep with the outside theme.  And used another verse from the same stamp set.

Love working on the insides of my cards. Just adds so much more to the card.

All items used are Stampin' Up except for the stamp set and scallop oval:

Masculine Graduation Card

OK as I said on Monday, I have two boys that will be graduating high school from our church this year and this is my second graduation card.  It was inspired by the sketch this week over at Sketch Frenzy Friday.  I am also using this in this weeks SULateNightStampers challenge which is to make a Masculine card.  So now that I have my graduation cards out of the way, I guess I will now need to do a father's day card.  I do love this owl punch and it makes the cutest graduate card doesn't it!

Now here is a side view of this card!

And of course as always the inside!  Can't give a card without the inside done.  And, I actually used the same stamps on the other graduation card!  Gotta love it!

Graceful Calla Lily

Have you ever just saw a stamp set and thought, "I have to have that stamp set."  Well this is one of those that I saw from Sweet N' Sassy last month and it just called my name.  And of course Korin also offered a 40% off since it was her husband's 40th birthday and that just sealed the deal for me.

One of the reasons I liked the stamp set so much is every sentiment on the stamp set talked about grace, even the one you see here with the Calla Lily.  Just an all around great stamp set.

This weeks sketch over at the Sweet Stop blog was just perfect for this stamp set, so of course I had to use it.  I spritzed it with very vanilla smooch spritz and the first spritz came out in spots, but it still looks very sparkly in person.

Here is a side view of the card!

and yes, I had to do the inside also and use another one of the stamps from this set!

Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Poppy Parade

Here is a side view of the card!

And the inside which really makes it a graduation card.

I love to use scripture as often as possible on my cards and this scripture really seemed to fit the occasion of the card!

Thinking of you!

Good Morning friends. Hope you have had a great week!  My week was very busy but very productive and today is no different.  My Saturday is crammed full, but that is just fine.  I will get it done or I won't.  As long as I make it to my granddaughter's dance recital all will be OK.  And, I will make it to that.

My card today was inspired by our challenge still going on at SULateNightStampers, paper glorious paper, and also the SUO challenge where you are to make a project using 3 dimensional flowers.  So I used my designer paper and I also made some flowers.

Use up that Designer Paper

Here is another card that I am trying to use some of that designer paper that will be retiring come the end of this month so I can make way for all the new paper I know that I will be buying.  It never ends does it.  But our challenge this week at SU LateNightStampers is "Paper, Paper Galore", use that designer paper. So that is what I am doing.

Another challenge that inspired this card is "Our Creative Corner" sketch this week.  I also used a couple of techniques to do this card.

1st - I had to use the new Oval Accents Bigz clear die that will be available on June 1st and to stay in the designer paper mode I decided to do the herringbone technique which you can find a video here of how it is done!

2nd - Have you ever had very bright designer paper that you did not know what to do with it?  Well this is one of those designer papers that is really, really bright and so I toned it down a bit by using sponge daubers and the frost white shimmer paint.  I just put some of the paint on the sponge dauber and using a circular motion covered the whole area.  I guess you could call that muting the paper! lol  But it does shimmer and is really pretty.

3rd - My 3rd technique was to embed a design into card stock by using an embossing folder.  It is called embedded embossing and here is another card I have done using this technique.  I also embedded the ribbon, but it curled it a little, but still works.

Here is a side view of the card!

And then my favorite part of the card is the inside as I could not figure out how to use this paper and it worked so well here.

The only thing I added was the scripture.  The bird is a part of the designer paper.  I just love it.

I am added this to the Thursday linky party at Little Birdie Blessings also.

All items used are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
Stamp Sets: Upsy Daisy, ODBD Scripture Collection # 4
Card Stock: Poppy Parade, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Pocketful of Posies
Classic Ink: Poppy Parade, Daffodil delight for sponging
Frost White Shimmer Paint
5/8" Daffodil Delight satin ribbon
Oval Accents Bigz clear die (sneak peak)
Large oval punch, Scallop Oval Punch
Square Lattice embossing folder

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

SULateNightStampers Challenge/Bring on the Designer Papers

This weeks challenge at SU LateNightStampers is to "Bring on the Designer papers".  I don't know about you, but with the new catalog coming out on June 1st this is a great challenge for me as I have stashes of Designer Paper I need to get rid of!  So what I did was to combine this challenge with the Stamping 411 sketch this week and this is what I came up with:

I used all items that are retiring coming up with this new catalog.  The ribbon is already retired and was another thing in my stash to get rid of.  The DSP is one of the hostess level gifts and will no longer be available after May 31st and the stamp set is also retiring!

Here is a side view of the card!

And using the designer paper inside is a great way to have a beautiful inside and to use up that paper!

Card Stock: Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Designer Series Paper: Cheerful Treat
Classic Ink: Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo

SULateNightStampers Challenge/Stamping 411 Sketch

Well good day to all of you! I sure hope your week has started out well.  I have a very busy week ahead of me, so I knew if I did not get this posted today, I would miss it.

So our challenge for this week at SULateNightStampers is "Sorry to see you go!"  So we are to take our favorite stamps that will be retiring at the end of the month and use them.  And, I can honestly say that I am almost crying knowing that "Upsy Daisy" will be leaving us.  This is such a versatile stamp and can be used for so many reasons. But I did not stop at the stamp set.  The colors that I used here are also retiring except of course the Whisper White.

My card layout was inspired by the Stamping 411 Sketch this week.  Here is another angle or view of the card!  Also the lighting was a little better from this angle! You can see more of the vibrant colors.

And now for the inside.  I may use another sentiment on the inside, but for now I will leave it blank other than the stamping of the daisy's!

Items used are all Stampin' Up!
Stamp Set: Upsy Daisy
Card Stock: Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade, Concord Crush, Whisper White
Classic Ink: Concord Crush, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz

Hymn & Scripture Challenge #9, I Surrender All

I am really enjoying this Hymn Scripture Challenge and today I am posting another one of my favorite old hymns that I can remember singing in church quite often and still sing some.  There are times I miss singing these old hymns and when I saw this one, I thought what a great song!  It just captures so much of how much we should trust our Lord and surrender it all to Him.  No matter how much I try, I can't do it without my Lord! And, the times I try to do it without Him, I realize just how insignificant I am without Him.

I chose two verses here that make me think of surrendering all, for when I surrender it to our Lord I know that there is no need to be afraid because He will defend and take care of me through it all and I also know that even through it all I can have joy and be joyful in the Lord!

"But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee." Psalm 5:11

"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you." Psalm 56:3

Here is my page!

If you would like to hear a beautiful rendition of this hymn, listen to CeCe Winans here!

And, don't forget to stop by Patters page and see her post as she always has such a beautiful write up!

I am also entering this into two other challenges:
