Christmas 2008

Wow, I finally got these posted and I started them in September. It just took longer than I thought to finish. Had more to do than I thought in October, but now it is November and I am sure I will again have more to do than I know what to do with. These are of Christmas last year. You would think I was not up to date, but actually for some reason, I scrapbooked all around Christmas and am pretty much up to September of this with everything else. I have a few more pages to do and I will be complete with last year. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!

Happy Birthday to my Niece

Next week is my Niece's Birthday and when I saw this card on splitcoast, I knew I was going to case her card. The only problem was I did not have the stamp set she had for the cupcakes. So improvised and used the Circle Scallop punch for the tops and cut the bottoms and drew the lines to look like cupcake bottoms. I thought it turned out very nice and now that I know how to make cupcakes without the stamp set, I will have to do this more often.

I used the "Beary Best Friends" stamp set that is in the Stampin' Up! holiday mini catalog, the designer series paper, Pawsitively Prints, also in the mini catalog, certainly celery - whisper white-pretty in pink cardstock, pretty in pink - Creamy Caramel - Blush Blossom - Basic Gray markers, 1/4" pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon, retired button and used cuddlebug to emboss the white at bottom.

Granddaughters Treat Bags

Well I had to get the treat bags ready for my granddaughters tonight and here they are. I just love doing this stuff. I can definitely say I am hooked. I think I could do this 8 hours a day with no problem. Anyway, I used the Cast-A-Spell designer series paper on the boxes. Pumpkin Pie Cardstock on the first box and used the stamp set twick or tweet on both boxes. For the card I used the stamp set Sweet Centers with the sweet treat cups. They are absolutely too cute. I made both boxes by using a 12 X 12 piece of cardstock and scored at 4" all the way around. Cut the 2 score marks on each side to the center score line

and folded in to make a 4" X 4" square box or bag. I added 7/8" black grossgrain ribbon as the handle. Too easy to make. Only took a few minutes to make both. I also used the "happy halloween" from the stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes. Wonderful way to use a lot of stamps and I know the girls will like them. I also put the circle that I punched out on the inside of the card. It just adds a little to the card. Thanks so much for looking. Hope you have a wonderful Halloween!

Another Hostess Gift

I really like how this bag turned out. I made it last Friday night to put a stamp set in for one of my customers that was Hosting a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack at her home. I put a Stampin' Up! stamp set in the bag. I also used retired Christmas DSP and a Stampin' Up! retired Stamp Set for the Tag. I think it is called "Tags and More". The way I make most of my bags are by measuring the item that goes into the bag and adding what the width and height are and then cutting the DSP to the proper size. Of course I add extra to the height to turn down and show the other side of the paper. For this one I think the width was seven inches and the height was six inches. The depth was about 1". So I cut two pieces of DSP to measure 10 X 9-1/2. On the 10" side across top of cutter, I scored at 1-1/2 and 8-1/2. On the 9" side across the top, I scored at the 1-1/2 and the 7-1/2. The 1-1/2 is the bottom and the other you will turn down the top 2". Then you adhere the sides of each piece together making sure top is even with fold down. Then fold up for the bottom pieces. Add handle and tag and you are done. Thanks so much for looking.

Halloween Treets

I just love these quick and easy treat holders. They are so easy to make and I made them last night for the girls at work. You use cardstock cut 4-1/4 X 11 and you score at 1-1/2, 5-1/2, and 7. Then fold and decorate as you like. I have seen them made for Christmas, Easter and Halloween and even baby showers. Makes a cute little treat for any occasion.

With these I used the Pumpkin Pie and Perfect Plum Cardstock. For the DSP, I used Cast-A-Spell and for the stamps, I used Sweet Centers and Twick or Tweet. Way too cute. Thanks for looking.

Tinker Bell Birthday

This is a card that my oldest daughter and I put together for her daughter's invitation to her 5th birthday party. She loves Tinker Bell and we found a free Disney down load and printed them. My daughter then used the Stampin' Up! water crayons to color them in and we also used the retired flower punch to add the flower. The cardstock colors for the card are Certainly Celery, Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry. The combination actually turned out very well. My granddaughter was excited how the dazzling diamonds glitter really put a sparkle on the card, and of course as always, we had the glitter everywhere. Where we had actually applied the glitter, there was glitter all over the table and I rubbed my hands through it and told my granddaughter that Tinker Bell had visited and poofed the dazzling diamonds glitter all over her. She thought that was the best. Of course then I had to do it to my other granddaughter also. We had a lot of fun. Thanks for looking.

For the Newlyweds

Finally got a chance to do a challenge. Don't have another workshop scheduled until November 17th. So I did the Mojo Monday Sketch and also the Color challenge from CPCM where you used the color pink, or they gave you choice of other

colors to use monochromatic. So I did the Pink's. I used the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP which I really like and was one of the first orders when the new in colors came out this year. There are so many choices of colors to use with this paper. Also I used my cuddlebug on this to emboss the two cardstocks and used my ink pad to rub over the white cardstock embossing to bring out the swirls. Thanks for looking.

Door Prize

Today is a stamp a stack that one of my customers is doing at her home for her friends in the development she lives in. I did the first one for them last year at about this time and boy was it something. I learned a lot from that one and of course it was one of my first. It was still a success, but we had glitter everywhere. Anyway, this is going to be the door prize for this stamp-a-stack. I will post the hostess gift later, just in case she has time to look at my blog prior to me getting there. This candle is about 2-3/4" round by 2-3/4" tall. So again I cut two pieces of cardstock 11 x 9. Scored at 3" on bottom of long side and 2" on top of long side. Then I scored at 3" on each side of short side. Hope you understand. I then turn down the 2" to show the other side of the DSP paper. I adhered the sides together with sticky tape, folded the bottom in and adhered with sticky tape, then used eyelets on the side to pull the ribbon through for the handle. Also, I spritzed with shimmer paint. I wish you could see the shimmer on the bag, but I assure you it is pretty.

Baby Shower Stampin

My daughter was helping give a baby shower this weekend and so I helped her get ready for it. As you can see the theme was Wild About You. I love that stamp set and hated that it retired. It is one I will probably always hold on to. Anyway, she actually is going to use the onesies as a banner held up with small clothes pins, but she made them into a card and stamped Thank you on the inside so they could be used as thank you cards after the shower. I thought that was a great idea. We got the instructions here, which we found the site from splitcoast stampers, and used So Saffron card stock and classic ink, and Certainly Celery card stock and classic ink. Also to make the neckline and leg holes we used the 1-3/8" round punch and used that punch for the animal on the card. Round Scallop punch was also used.

The treat bags were made with the same items:

Certainly Celery & So Saffron card stock and classic ink. Added a touch of bashful blue cardstock. 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon. Scallop edge punch, 1-3/8" round punch and scallop round punch.

She also decided to make a diaper cake. Is this not cute. She used the same stamp set again to decorate around the cake. Wide green ribbon came from AC Moore and I am unsure of where she purchased the Giraffe, but it could not have matched better. She also added the green ribbon to the giraffe. It was absolutely too cute. Hopefully this will give you ideas for your next baby shower gathering.

All White

Thought I would get one more in tonight for a challenge I saw at Colour Create. All white card except for image. I may be a little off with the ribbon, but had to add something. I used the cuddlebug to give it some dimension with the snowflake folder. I then spritzed it with the champagne shimmer mist. Yes, I used it again. It is a habit with me now. I also used the delightful decorations again with the Four The Holidays sentiment. You would think I did not own any other stamp sets, but these have become one of my favorites. The ribbon is the 1/2" Bermuda Bay polka dot. Classic ink was also the bermuda bay. Well it is time to go to bed.

Workshop Card

My workshop on Tuesday night was really a success and we all had a great time. I think the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint went over very well. Who doesn't like some shimmer at times. This was a card that I took to make in case we finished the box in time, which you can see here. We did and this easy card went together really quick. It is hard to see in the picture, but the card really shimmers. I just love the Shimmer paint. And of course again I am using the Delightful Decorations stamp set. That set along with the punch make a card so easy. The paper I used is the Pale Plum along with the incolor Rich Razzleberry. It also goes good together. The other stamp for the sentiment is Four the Holidays. Thanks for looking.

Hostess Gift

I had a workshop last night and this was my hostess gift. I made the bag by measuring the candle and then taking two pieces of paper measuring the candle. I then knew the width and the height I needed the bag. It came out to 12 x 9 for each sheet of paper. 12 was the height and 9 was the width. I scored at 3 and six on the 9" side and at 3" and 10" on the other side. The score that was 2" from the top, I folded down to make the top. I the put the two together to form the bag with sticky tape. Then cut the corners on the bottom and folded them in and sticky taped them together. Added the handle and tag and was done. Hopefully you can understand what I did.

To make the candle I used a retired stamp set and stamped on white tissue paper, cut the stamped images out and placed on the candle. I then used waxed paper to hold in place while using a heat gun to melt the image into the candle. Click here for a actual tutorial of how to stamp in candles. It will explain it a lot better than I did. It is so simple and so easy.

Christmas Candles

I did some work last week on candles, which I have only did once before, trying to get some gift ideas. I think they turned out really one. One stamp set I used was the Patterned Pines which is a hostess gift from Stampin' Up!'s Christmas mini catalog. If you look at my previous post, you will see I have used it quite a bit since I received it. The other stamp set is one I have had for quite some time and thought it was a good size to put on the candles. It thought they turned out quite well. I may see if one of my workshop groups would like to do the candles for a class. They are really easy.

I used the classic inks on these which are basic brown, real red and always artichoke. For the stars I used Summer Sun.

Patterned Pines

I worked all day getting ready for the workshop and class I have coming up this week. But, now it is time to post another card I made with the hostess stamp set in the mini catalog, Stampin' Up!. At first I was not sure if I would like it, but now I think it is one of my favorite. This card is so simple, yet elegant and you really need to see it in person to see the real shimmer it has. I actually saw one like this on a blog but can not remember where I saw it. But, I thought it was pretty so I decided to case it with a few changes. But the gray and the white with the iridescent ice embossing powder really look good. Again I spritzed the card with the champagne shimmer paint and you can see a few shimmery spots in the picture.

Shimmer Paint Wows

I am just loving this shimmer paint. It really brightens up a Christmas Card. I worked some last night with my downline to help her get a Christmas card class together. I wish I had took some pictures of some of the cards we put together, but I did not think about it until she left. But after she left, I knew I still had to get ready for a workshop on Tuesday and for a card class on Saturday (next week). So I needed to put together 1 more easy card for Tuesday night. Well I made 4 cards before I came up with the one we will do on Tuesday if we have time after making the box. Of course, this is not the one, because what I first had I did not like so I started adding. I do like the finished product, but it takes a little more time to make than we will have time. But I wanted to post it anyway just to show what you can do when you are just trying to be creative. It can always come together.



This is the view of the background which is on the Bordering blue cardstock which shows the snowflakes I added using the Champagne Mist Shimmer paint. I used the sponge daubers to put it right on the stamp and then stamped the image. I hope you can see the shimmer. I then used my spritz and spritzed the whole card with the shimmer paint. I am definitely going to purchase the other two shimmer paints. I just love the effect you get with the shimmer paint and I will be demoing that in my workshop on Tuesday.
