Blessings

I am not sure how I feel about this card.  In one way, I love the brightness of it and then in another it is too busy as my husband says.  This is the sketch from Stamping 411 blog and I love to do their sketches.  I was trying for spring here and I think we are all ready for the spring weather especially here where it is usually spring most of the winter, but this year we actually got winter.  Anyway, hope you like.  More to come!

Finally was able to take a break from getting ready for my Punch Card Class on Tuesday Night.  So I decided to check out the Clean and Simple Technique for Saturday at our Demonstrator Site, Stampin Connection.  It was to use ribbon, so this is what I came up with.  I thought it was really neat.  I just folded it back and forth and used the snail adhesive to adhere it.

1/4" grosgrain rose ribbon.

Vintage Vogue Card and Top Note Scrapbook Page

Had a workshop tonight and this is the card we made.  We used the Vintage Vogue Stamp set which is in the mini catalog and used the clear mount.  I really am enjoying the clear mount stamps and until you use them you don't realize just how different they are from the other clear stamps on the market.  They still have the stampin up high quality rubber and foam, so you don't have to worry about them splitting.

Anyway to make this card, I used the pretty in pink card stock for the base.  I then cut a piece of the always artichoke cardstock 4" X 5-1/4".  I then cut a piece of whisper white cardstock 3-3/4" X 5".  Using the swirly stamp from the vintage vogue and the alway artichoke classic ink, I stamped across the top, the left side and the bottom to create a border.  I then took the large flower in the stamp set and using rich razzleberry ink, I stamped one in the top middle, one in the left side middle and one in the bottom middle.  I then took the small flower and using pretty in pink ink, I stamped in between the large flowers.  Then too the small leaf and using the always artichoke, I stamped leaves surrounding the flowers.  Then in the right side middle of the card, I used a sentiment from Whimsical Words which is a free stamp set from the sale-a-bration.  How great is that.  I then adhered the white to the always artichoke, attached a brad from the mini called pretty in pink sending love epoxy brads, and then adhered all of that to the pretty in pink card base.  Voila you are done.  So simple and easy!

We also did a scrapbook page also and it was a lot of fun.  The only problem was I forgot the adhesive, but thank goodness my hostess had some of the same adhesive that I use.  I hate doing silly stuff like that, but that is me lately.  I'd forget myself if it I wasn't attached to my body! lol

In doing this page, I used the Top Note Die, the 5 petal punch, and two new punches, one from the mini - Extra Large two step bird punch and the other from the sale-a-bration - scallop trim border (free with a $50 merchandise order from stampin up).  This was so quick and easy and so much fun.  The DSP on the bottom is from the Sweet Pea Paper stack from the mini and has some wonderful paper.  Other cardstock used was Sahara sand as the base, taken with teal, rose red, whisper white and pretty in pink.  Old olive was used for the leaves.  I also used an older stamp set, but still current for the words called Warm Words.  Fun and good words to use for any occasion.  Here is the page with the pictures on it.  The half top note is for notes and I will need to add them when I actually decide on the final pictures for this.  Thanks for looking! 

Three Little Words

One of my quick and easy cards.  Probably the hardest thing about it was piercing the edges.  But it adds so much to a card.  The inspiration actually came from our demonstrator site and we were to case a card from one of the demonstrators gallery.  So that card inspired this card.  Of course she used a totally different stamp set than I did and different colors all together.  But that is one of the reasons for challenges is to get inspiration and to add our own little something to a card.  Thanks for looking!

A Kind Word

This card was inspired by a challenge over at CPC where we were to case a featured artist.  The artist to case was debbiedee and what a magnificent gallery she had to choose from.  Anyway that is what inspired this card.  Her card was a golfer and more manly and mine of course was girly. 

With this card I used so saffron card stock for the base.  I then took a piece of Tea Party DSP and cut it 5-1/4" X 4".  Then cut that peice in half and turned over one of the halves to get the two different DSP designs.  I had some so saffron ribbon and I adhered the two peices of DSP together by attaching to the ribbon.  Punched two holes into the ribbon to add the flower brads.

I then stamped the image from the stamp set "A Kind Word" onto whisper white cardstock and colored in the the water color pencils and blended the coloring with a blender pen.  Adhered that to a peice of pretty in pink cardstock and adhered that to the DSP over the ribbon.

I used another stamp set "Tiny Tags" from the mini catalog for the hello (which is a little crooked, but just adds character. LOL) and punched out a half circle and attached that to the corner of the card.  Then adhered all of that to the base of the card.

Get Well

Stamping 411 has had some awesome sketches lately that really make you think outside the box.  I love the simplicity of them, but sometimes you get so caught up in the extravagant that you kind of lose the fact that simple can be very pretty!  This card is for their Saturday Sketch this week and as you can see not a lot of work.  That is what I need right now with things seeming to be rush, rush, rush all the time.  Anyway, all I did was cut the normal size whisper white paper for the card base.  I then cut a piece of pumpkin pie cardstock to 4" by 5-1/4" and then a piece of the Sweet Pea DSP Stack to 3-3/4" by 5".  I adhered the DSP to them Pumpkin Pie, cut two pieces of ribbon, 1/4" grosgrain in white and tempting turquoise, and wrapped the around the two peices together.  I then punched a small hole through the ribbon and added the flower brad.  I took a peice of whisper white cardstock and stamped the "get well wishes" from "teeny tiny wishes" stamp set in taken with teal classic ink, used the modern label punch to punch it out, and then sponged the edges with pumpkin pie classic ink.  Adhered the label to the DSP, punched a small hole through and inserted another flower brad to the edge of the sentiment.  Adhered the pumkin pie and DSP to the card base and the outside of the card was done. 

Once the outside was done, I decided to do the inside of this card.  This is where scraps can come in.  I have a punch card class coming up on March 2 and so I had been punching out some butterflies with the butterfly punch.  Well the piece you see on the inside of the card was a piece I was going to cut off the regular paper and throw away.  Well I had a bright idea, why not use it for the inside of this card.  So I did cut the piece off and then adhered to the inside of the card.  I then took my stamp set "flight of the butterfly" and stamped the small butterfly  inside of the punched out part.  And then for the sentiment on the inside I used another stamp set called "Curvy Verses".  How great is that, 3 stamp sets on one card.  Hope you enjoyed this and thanks for looking at my blog.  Inspiration is a wonderful thing.  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Masculine

I made this card for a friend of ours for his 60th birthday!  I was trying to find something that would not be too frilly.  Most of my cards are made for women, so I had to be careful not to over do it.  I also used the sketch from CPC for this card.  I wanted a little color so I used the Bermuda bay and soft suede, two incolors for this year by Stampin' Up!.  The card base is made of Kraft paper.  I also stamped the candles in bermuda bay and soft suede classic ink.  The cupcakes were stamped with versamark to just make them a little darker than the original color of the kraft paper.  I love using the versamark to add a little highlight to a color.  Stamp Sets were "Party Hearty" and "Whisical Word" which is one of the sale-a-bration stamp sets.  Punches used were the scallop edge punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, the scallop circle punch and the new medium jewelry punch.  I used a marker to writ the 60 on the tag.  Thanks for looking!

HOME/2010 Scripture Challenge

This is the 2010 Scripture Challenge Word # 4 which was Home (Heaven).  As Patter said "Heaven is our future, eternal home for Christians.  So we were to find a scripture talking about our Home.  The reason I chose this paper is because I thought of our new Home as being bright (no darkness) and the rays of light and beauty would be breath taking.  Well this is not breath taking, but I did add some sparkle to it to kind of get my point across.  Also the verses I chose talk about our citizenship and our inheritance, and that refers to our home, but 1 Peter 1:4 talks about how it will never fade, never spoil, it is eternal and that is what I am looking forward to.  You never grow old or perish.  Isn't that just awsome.  And the Phil. 3:20 talks about our Citizenship and we are eagerly awaiting our Savior to ome and take us home.  How great is that.  One day Jesus Christ will come to claim his bride!  I am looking forward to being a bride again and my groom taking me to my new home that will never fade away.  Thanks for looking and following is a close up of the verses!

Happy Moments

This is really a cute stamp set that is offered in the sale-a-bration catalog.  You can get it free with a $50 Stampin' Up! order.  How great is that.  Also another item on this card that is from the mini catalog is the Beautiful Wings embosslits die which is located on page 24.  So many people have missed it and I actually did when I placed my first order.  I kept seeing these butterflies and wondered where they were located.  I finally found them and of course they were on my next order and I really have enjoyed using this die.  The DSP Paper is in the idea book and catalog and one of my favorites called Flocked together.  Actually what inspired this card is a sketch and color challenge that was offered on the stampin connection.  I do love a challenge.  I decided to use some of the other DSP out of the DSP pack to cover the packages.  I thinking the Piecing technique is so wonderful and adds to a card.  Also used on this is the Scallop oval punch and the large oval punch.  I also placed some rhinestones on the butterflies.  Thanks for looking and have a great Friday!

Paper Clip Bookmark Flower

One of the challenges on the Stampin Connection, site for Stampin' Up! demonstrators, was to make a bookmark with a paper clip.  So here is my bookmark.  I am loving making these little flowers with the scallop circle punch.  This DSP paper is actually retired, but it is a good use for your retired products or your current products.  The best thing about this flower is you can also use the little pieces of scrap laying around and it still turns out just a pretty. 

This would be great attached to a ribbon on a card as a focal point to give to someone as a thank you or as a birthday gift.  You attach to the ribbon with the paper clip and then you have two in one, a gift and a card.

Of course I used the scallop circle punch and punched out 7 circles alternating the colors.  I then scrunched each one up really good and then opened them back up, punched a hole in the center, put a brad through the center, scrunched each one up again and then opened them back up from the bottom to the top leaving the top more closed.  It is so simple and easy to do.  Actually Patter has a great tutorial on her site that will show you step by step.

Create Definition Decor Elements

In my craft room, I have a wall that has the Circuit Box for the house on it and I have always hated it being there, but when we bought the house that is where it was.  I have also always wanted to try the Decor Elements.  So a couple of weeks ago I had this bright idea of covering it with some stampin up paper and making like a frame and putting the Create Definition over it.  Well, the Create Definition looks great over it, but I could not get anything to look good covering it.  I must have wasted tons of paper trying to get it to work.  Finally, I just decided to punch out butterflies with my butterfly punch and pop dot them to the Circuit Box.  So, here are the pictures.  Let me know what you think and also if you may have an idea of how to work around it.  It actually looks kind of cute.  Thanks for looking.

I do love the Create Definition, especially in my craft room.  I may have to get the others for this room.

Happy Birthday Flower

I had so much fun making this card.  I used two challenges from CPC.  One was the color challenge, to use turquoise, orange and white.  So that gave me my colors.  I had already picked the card I was going to case which was the other challenge on CPC.  So, having all of this, I actually started with the flower.  Since I knew the colors I needed, I punched out 6 pieces, two of each color, with the round scallop punch.  I then used my bone scorer to distress it a bit by pulling it against the scorer all the way around.  Then you kind of scrunch each piece, then open back up and punch a hole through the center and add a brad.  I used the flower brad.  Then I pulled out my DSP to see what I had to match.  The bottom DSP, turquoise, is from the Pink Flamingo, so I thought that would be a good base.  I then thought about the top and had nothing that had the orange and turquoise, so why not make it.  So I used whisper white cardstock, pulled out my old stamp set, which is still active, "itty bitty borders" and stamped once in the Pumpkin Pie classic ink and then went over with the tempting turquoise classic ink and I then had a paper that would match all the colors.  This is also what made me think this would be a great birthday card, bright and cheery.  I then cut the orange paper and used the scallop edge punch for the border, adhered all together on the Pink Flamingo DSP, added the bottom flower brads, the ribbon and then adhered it to the whisper white base.  Once finished I used the "Well Scripted" stamp set to stamp the happy birthday.  It actually went together very easily.  I attached the flower with glue dots.  Following is the card I cased which was done by "gallery name" thumbunny.  Thank you for a wonderful card to follow and the inspiration for my card.

Beautiful Wings

It is funny that I had just did a card with these colors and this DSP, Cottage Wall, and then the featured stamper on our demonstrator site had a card that was using the same items.  All I had to do was change 2 things between the card I chose in her gallery and mine.  So this is the card I made using her card as inspiration.  The difference was I used the beautiful wings butterflies and the scallop edge punch.  I kept with the very same colors and DSP that she used.  It is fun to do those challenges and I enjoy seeing how the cards turn out verses the one I cased.  Thanks for looking!

Thinking of You and Happy Birthday

Is this not cute!  I hate to brag on myself, but I thought about this challenge most of the day!  Stampin Connection, for Demonstrators, clean and simple challenge today was to make a 1 layer card.  Of course I was working, but I kept thinking "how can I make a 1 layer card and make it look elegant?"  Then I remembered a card I made at Christmas where I used an embossing folder and then put a oval around it so it would not emboss over it.  Here are two different directions for doing it.  #1 & #2.  I actually bought a small wood oval frame unfinished at AC Moore and used that as the template and did not have to cut up my embossing folder.  It actually works great as you can see.  I had to finagle the embossing plates to get it to work right.  I liked it so much that I made two cards.  The first one above is made with the following Stampin' Up! items:
