B.Y.O.P. Gift Card Holder

Hi everyone!  Surprise, Surprise, I am posting.  It seems that work just keeps me so busy that when I get home I don't want to look at a computer.  But, I had to share this cute little gift card with you and share a tutorial of how it is made.  It actually started with this gift card I got for my birthday from a friend and she had bought the gift card holder from one of her stamping buddies.  So it is not my design, but I tour it apart to see how it was made and could not believe it was an envelope.  The name stamped on the back of the gift card holder was "Shell Ann," so thank you Shell Ann for this idea.  Now on with how to make it.

 

 

OK, yes it starts with a regular card size envelope - 5 3/4 X 4 3/8 size.

 

 

You will cut one side of the top of the envelope off, cut a little more than the half, maybe 1/8" to the left of the half.  It will look a little like the photo below.

 

Now you can see where the gift card will go.

Now to get ready to add the items for the front, back and inside.  Just in case you cannot read the measurements from the photo, you will cut 3 pieces of plain paper (whatever color you desire) 4 1/4 X 2 3/4.  Cut 3 pieces of Designer Paper at 4 X 2 1/2.

 

Adhere the Designer Paper to the plain card stock.

 

Now you can use whatever stamp you would like to put on the front and on the inside.  I used the stamps from the stamp set called B.Y.O.P from SU.  I also used a framelit from SU to cut it out.  Use whatever you would like to cut it out.  Mine was a little different from the gift card holder I received but I chose ones that fit the words.

 

Adhere everything to the gift card holder.  As you can see I did the inside first.

 

I attached the ribbon with adhesive to the back of the front of the gift card holder has you see below.

 

Adhere the back and the front as you see in the photos below, tie it shut and you are done.

Sketch 366- Monday Lunchtime Sketch - Tutorial

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to this week's Monday Lunchtime Sketch.  I am really excited about the card I made for this sketch and I'll tell you why.

 

I woke up Saturday morning and had a dear friend on my mind that I have not seen in a while.  I really believe that God lays those on your heart that need prayer and encouragement, so I prayed for her and then decided to make this card for her that I am sharing with you today.  My husband tells me all the time that I have a talent and doesn't understand why I don't send out all these cards I make.  When he said it today, it really made me think.  Only takes a few moments to write an address on an envelope, put a stamp on it and off it goes to a person who may just need that little bit of encouragement that day.  So maybe I should listen to my husband as God could be using him to speak His message to me.

 

So without further ado, here is my sample for this week's sketch and I also will show you how I did the butterfly.

 

 

Now let me show you a little tutorial on how I did the butterfly. 

 

I used the Sweet n' Sassy stamp set called "New Creature"  which you can find here.  I also used the "New Creature Dies" which coordinates with the stamp set and you can find it here.  So now on to my first photo and how I did it.

 

I used some spritzer's that I purchased with Stampin' Up! and I added ink drops and some water to the spritzer.  I also used some smooch spirtz that I got from Stampin' Up!, but you can purchase at Michael's or AC Moore and probably most craft stores.  I used the Water Color paper from Stampin' Up! as the base.  I then started spritzing and as you can see, got a little too much in the middle.  But that is OK, you can work around it. 

 

 

Here is what it looked like close up once I finished spritzing.  You can see the shimmer from the smooch spritz I used as the final spray.

 

I then took the stamp set and stamped it in black and the bottom one in black and purple.  That is the one I used for the card today.

 

Then using my dies, I cut them out.

Now you can do the same thing I did.  I do love this effect and it is almost like water coloring.

SU LateNightStampers Challenge / Gift card/money holder

Good Tuesday Morning to you all and hope you are having a wonderful day.  Our challenge this week for our LateNightStampers, LNS, group is to make a gift card holder or money holder.  And, I used the top note die and one of my favorite Christmas sets, Snow Much Fun to make this great gift card holder.  I actually learned how to do this one from Nancy Lewis, my demonstrator.  She is so talented.

Here is the inside of the holder and how you would open it.

It is put together with a brad and you just slide it to either side.

Now here it is with cash, which is how I will use it for my niece.

And now with a gift card.

Isn't it just the cutest. I love it and so easy.

Just a mini tutorial: Cut out two red pieces of the card stock using the Top Note Die and the Big Shot or whatever cutting system you may have.  Then cut two of the Whisper White card stock.  One of the whisper white you will trim around the edge that is dotted by the cutting to make the red show as a border around it.  Stamp whatever you would like onto this piece and then attach this to one of the red pieces.  Take the other Whisper White piece of card stock and cut it in half at the center points.  Adhere it to the bottom of the other red piece of card stock.  Decorate as you would like.  I used the scallop border punch to cut out a border in the red glitter paper.  Put the two together by using a brad or whatever else you would like to use.  That is all there is to it.  So easy yet so cute.

Back To School Pencils

Good Morning again and as promised yesterday I am back with something to go into the pencil box.  Here are some cute little pencils that I made using card stock and some of that wonderful sticky strip.  They were so easy to make and my granddaughter's just love them.  A tuturial is coming up, but wanted you to see them first.

A wonderful gift for a teacher's desk or for a student don't you think?

How to make a Flower Burst Pencil Topper

1. Here are the items you

will need to make this

topper!

Paper Cutter

Scissors

Sticky Strip

Card Stock

Pencils

2. I did not think about doing the tutorial until I had already cut my strips. So you will cut 3 pieces of Card Stock or Designer Paper 2" X 4 ½".

3. Cut each strip 1 ¾" with the scissors making sure you leave at least ¼" on

the edge as you see in photo here.

4. Then add the sticky strip to the ¼" side that is not cut. See same photo above!

5. Start by wrapping the first piece around the silver part of the eraser with the fringed part of the card stock up as in photo here!

　

6. This is what it will look like when you finish with the first layer!

7.   Do the same for the next piece except start ¼" below the first layer as in photo!

This is the finished second piece.

8. Repeat step 7 starting ¼" below the Second layer

.

9. By using your fingers or one of the pencils pull the pieces downward to form the flower. You can use the pencil to kind of roll them downward.

Continue with each layer until they are all pointing downward!

Final Result!

10. Place finished Flower Burst Pencils into a pencil holder! How easy is that!
