Christmas Lodge

Christmas just seems to be the buzz right now and we have not even gotten to Thanksgiving yet here in the US!  But I am loving getting all these cards ready for Christmas.  Such a great and fun time of year!

This was another quick card I put together last Friday Night during our Praise and paper Crafting (PPN) event at Christian Paper Crafts.  It was a lot of fun to put this one together and I love the outcome.  This was to use a sketch and that is exactly what I did.  Sketches just really help to get me started with a card!  Now there are times that they do not look like the sketch what so ever, but the sketch was my starting point.  Here is the sketch that I used!  I made my card the regular size, A2!

Now here is a close up of the image.  I stamped it in black and then using the versamark ink pad, I covered the whole circle.  I poured the iridescent ice embossing powder over it and heated it with the hot gun to get the sparkle.  I love doing that.  It really makes it look so wintery.

Merry Christmas Stocking

Good Wednesday morning!  I wanted to share with you a card that I was thinking of submitting, but when all was said and done, I did not really like it enough!  Have you ever just put that much work into something and then it was just ok!  That was this one.  I have had it sitting for about 3 weeks now and finally am just now posting it.  You can find the sketch and the submission that I was going to go for right here, Scrapbook & Cards Today!  It was a great sketch and wish I could have done it justice.

Now I was impressed with the inside of the card!  This is the inside sentiment!

And this was the other side where I actually used my mica flakes and I just love this tree!

This was one card I used a lot of items on and took some time and someone special will receive it for Christmas, but not sure at this point who that will be.

With Thanksgiving!

This week is our Fabulous Gracious Glimpses for our October Design Team Delights over at Christian Paper Crafts.  Yesterday was my gracious glimpse and I am posting kind of late, but that is OK.  I did make the post over at Christian Paper Crafts, so that makes it good!

Our Design Team Delights gallery for October is Thanksgiving, so this is my sample for the Glimpse into what is coming on the 15th!

How great is this candle!  I just love it.  I used the Just believe from Stampin' Up! and then the Scripture Collection # 4 from Our Daily Bread Designs.  They both worked so well together to help this candle become a Thanksgiving beauty!

I just love doing candles and don't know why I don't do them more often.

I also added some rhinestones to give it a little more bling and now that I have done that, I may do it more often.

Happy Birthday Cupckakes and Stamping 411

Happy Monday Morning to everyone.  What a weekend and it passed way too fast.  I am wondering why we don't have 4 day work weeks and a 3 day weekend!  Just seems like 2 days are not enough.  Maybe I will send a letter to my congressman! LOL

Anyway, our challenge for today over at SULateNightStampers is a color challenge!  I just love color challenges and this one is no different.  The colors are to use Night of Navy, Cajun Craze, River Rock and a neutral if needed.  So I decided I would make a man's birthday card as those colors just seemed to say manly to me yesterday!  And, when I saw the Stamping 411 sketch for this week, I knew exactly what I was going to do.  I just love their sketches!

Christmas Gift Bag

Thought I would share another item I did on Friday night at our Praise and Papercrafting night over at Christian Paper Crafts.  As I said in yesterday's post, the theme was Gifts and Giving!  So we were to make a gift wrapping which could be just stamping on some paper, altering a gift bag, making a box, etc.  I had purchased some plain bags last year after Christmas and decided to dress one of them up! 

I actually tried to make a fireplace and each project was to take 45 minutes, so I thought if I could just make a quick fireplace.  But then I wanted to make a brick base out of crumb cake.  So I decided to use the score board and score the sections, then put versarmark all over the crumb cake card stock and cover that with some old SU Glassy Glaze embossing powder.  It actually turned out well once heated and set.  So as you know that cut into my time.  Then I used the wings of the bird punch for the Fire red part.  For the logs I punched out three pieces from the Word Window punch.  Then I felt like the very vanilla background which was to be the Mantel part needed to be scored also.  So that added a little time.  I then added the Waffle Paper really fast to give some decoration.  As you can see I was not good about evening it out, but I still like the result.  I had planned on using the stamp set for my stockings, but by then I had to hurry as my time was running out.  So I just punched some Designer paper from the package Frostwood Lodge and then punched the toes, heel and top of the stocking from the Glimmer Paper Silver using the Stocking builder punch, put them together and then adhered it all to the bag!  Took me 42 minutes.  Now I could do it in a lot less time, since I know what I am doing. lol

Altered Fall Frame

Good morning to all my wonderful friends here.  I stayed up fairly late last night as we had our Praise and Paper crafting Night over at Christian Paper Crafts.  It was a lot of fun, but it was also a lot of work.  The theme was gifts and giving and we had 4 challenges.  I am posting this one first as it was for the color challenge and the Recycle something challenge.  Since I knew all the challenges in advance, I kind of cheated and did some of my projects to work with two, even though I did try to do each one.  So here is a frame that I found in the box of frames when my Mom moved out of our family home into a smaller apartment recently.

Isn't this just really cute!  For the background, I used very vanilla and stamped the french foliage script stamp through out the card stock.  I then spritzed it with the smooch spritz gold glow!  Using the sizzix leaf die # 2, I cut out the different leaves in different colors and then attached them to the very vanilla card stock.  I took the More Mustard ruffled ribbon and ran it around the border of the frame and then inserted everything into the frame.  That was all there was too it.  Sure wish you could see the gold glow smooch spritz in the photo, but it is hard to see.  By the way it was one of those frames that you can add dimension to!

Prayer Journal

Good Thursday Morning to all my cyber friends!  Today I want to share another one of my journals I will be selling at the craft bazaar that I will be a part of on November 5th.  It was so easy to put together.

I used another stash of my retired designer paper.  I honestly do not know the name of it, as it was 3 years ago.  So you can see I have a big stash of retired paper!

The two stamp sets I used are Four Frames by Stampin' Up! and Scripture Collection # 5 by ODBD.  The "Prayer Journal" was computer generated and then I stamped the frame around it and punched it out.  Great way to add the additional you need for a card!

Halloween Treat Holder

This weeks challenge at SULateNightStampers is to do a Halloween Treat Holder.  So I went with something I had done a few of lately and here it is Halloween Style!

This is from the top and I have other angles just to show you how easy it is!

I just love this little holder and it is so easy to make.  This one is just using the pumpkin pie card stock and taking the top not die and running it through the big shot.  You did find the middle which is very easy because it has a point and score at the 1/4" mark on each side which makes the center 1/2" thick which is about the size of the Hershey Nuggets that you put into the holders.

Here is the video I used to make it except I left out the extra top layer and the white for the inside.  I have did them both ways and love both ways.  Also I made my band a little wider and used Designer Paper for the band.  My Design paper is last years collection from Stampin' Up!  I think I cut the band 1 1/2" x 8 1/2".

Hello my fellow paper crafters! It's time for another Color Monday challenge over at Christian Paper Crafts.  Since I am hosting the challenge, I chose this wonderful flower scene which really made me feel the time of year, fall, and what seems to be the theme everywhere. It also reminded me that our Lord created the seasons from the very beginning for our enjoyment. 

Now you can choose as many colors as you like from the photo or from the color chart I created and make a project of your choosing.

All types of projects are welcome including cards, ATC's, tags, altered items, scrapbook pages, etc.

I decided to make a card and it was a lot of fun and I really like the combination of all these colors.

Uncharted Territory Journal

Good Sunday morning to you all!  I cannot believe it is already October 2nd, but it is and before you know it we will be in year 2012!  Time is just flying by.  But Friday night I had a few moments to dress this notebook up a little that I found at one our all favorite stores, Wal-Mart on sale.

Now the only thing I added to this journal was the center strip of paper, the ribbon, the flower, the bird and of course the sentiment!  The different flowers and color were already there.  So, how easy was that.  The only difficult problem was matching up the center piece of paper with the rest of the notebook.  Now for the flower, I used the very vanilla paper, punched out three 2 3/8" round scallops.  Using my scoring bone, I broke down the paper fiber and then separated each punched out piece, giving me six round scallops, sponged the edges with the elegant eggplant ink, scrunched them up, then separated them and sprayed them with the frost white shimmer paint mixed with alcohol.  This caused the ink to run a little which gave it the effect you see in the photo.  I put all the pieces together, punched a hole in the center, put the brad through and then scrunched them all again and pulled down as much as I needed to give it the flowery look.  So very easy to do.  I also used the bird punch to add leaves around the flower and then using the Language of Friendship stamp set, I stamped the bird image and punched it out using the Bird builder punch.  The last thing I did was to stamp the border on the sentiment using the four frames stamp set and then stamped inside the border using the Uncharted Territory stamp set.  I then punched it out using the decorative label punch.

Using Patterned Paper as a Focal Point

Good Saturday morning to all my dear friends out there.  Today at Christian Paper Crafts we have our Clean and Simple Challenge which is to use your Patterned Paper as the focal point of the card.  You can decorate it, accessorize it, but it still needs to be the main focus.  So here is what I came up with!

I just love using designer paper as the focus on cards and of course it also helps to make an easy card!  Now I know I will have to do quite a few more as I do like this card and the designer paper.

Copy That Challenge

Today over at Christian Paper Crafts, I am hosting the Copy That Scrapbook Challenge today.  So here is my post there today!

OK everyone it is time for our "Copy That" Scrapbook challenge which is now the 5th Friday of the months that have 5 Fridays! That was a mouth full!

This is a Scrapbook challenge where we again will get some inspiration from the advertisement gurus. The ad attached, captured my attention and I hope it will capture yours. So, let this advertisement inspire you, whether you are inspired by the sketch design, the colors, or any of the elements or shapes, use the ad to scrap your own layout. I was inspired by the look of the layout which reminded me of a two page layout with the first page being the main focus and the second page adding a little more detail of the first. When I finished, I was not certain the two pages looked like the ad, but that was what inspired this wonderful double layout of my Dad's 80th Birthday!

Christmas Lodge

Here is another card that I made a set of for my Christmas Bazaare coming up in 4 weeks.  I thought I had already put it on here, but in looking back it is not here.

Don't you just love this new stamp set from the "holiday mini catalog."  It is just what you dream of when you think of Christmas.  Again, I am trying to use up all of my retired designer paper and this one of those and again it was no longer in a pack so I don't remember the name of it.  It was from last Christmas and so I did use the Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White card stock, and Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler classic ink.  The ribbon is new and is in the "holiday mini catalog" also, 3/8" quilted satin ribbon in cherry cobbler.

Christmas Box!

Is this not the cutest box every and wait to you see what it holds.  Last weekend when I had a crop, I took a lot of my retired papers to make some things for the bazaare we are having at our church on November 5th, and this is one of the items that I did that Saturday.  I actually got all of my instructions from Create with Connie and Mary Blog!  And the instructions were so easy to follow!  Connie called it the Trio of Treats Tote.  And that is definitely what it is.  You can find the instructions here!

And a picture of the 3 different candy holders, which I have not filled yet!  But you can put mints or chocolate or any type of hard candy in them.

As you can see these are the containers that come with buttons, brads and other items in them and now we have a way of recycling them.  How great is that!

Now for my entry!  I created this card by creating the second layer using my digital studio and the French Foliage stamp brush set.  I then printed it out and cut it to layer on the card.  That is one reason I really like My Digital Studio!  So here is my card!

The leaves are from the Leaves # 2 Die and then ran through the big shot using the Swirls embossing folder.  Just gives the cut out leaves a little texture.
